Anne was a survivor. She met Arthur during the war while serving as a nurse and remained loyal, despite years of abandonment. It was a relationship that was forged out of necessity, and neither party could remember the passion from where it came.
A pragmatist by nature, she held no illusions about the man she married. Her needs were simple: she wanted a father for their son, James. Someone who could provide some stability and security during difficult times. Anything else would be a bonus.
