Harry Manning was a man on a mission. He’d spent most of his working life dealing with human detritus and there wasn’t much left to surprise him .
Unlike Upfield, he saw little romance in the outback, just a lot of blood, sweat and hard labour. Despite his years in the force, he liked to do things by the book, using patience and tenacity to get results.

Manning didn’t believe in perfect murders, convinced that most
criminals, were lazy, careless and stupid. Sooner or later they
made a mistake.
